DECEMBER READING LIST 2022

Books to read by the fire this winter!

Welcome to December, when the days get shorter and books become a lifeline for anyone dreaming of warmer climates and distant adventures. Whether you’re cozying up in front of the fire or wearing your best pajamas while sipping hot cocoa, there’s no better way to bask in this wonderful season than with a great book. I have read some good and not-so-good books this December!

Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted | 4/5 stars

A beautiful memoir was written by a young woman trying to survive cancer at a time in her life when she should be doing exciting things! This book is inspiring, heartwarming, and simply beautiful. I truly do wish it would have examined her life a bit more after Cancer, but WOW! If you are looking for a beautiful book about cancer and you know someone who has survived or not from this awful disease. Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted is a good one to read. Yes, I did cry and tear up a few times!

Lessons in Chemistry | 4/5 stars

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I opened this book! It is a book about feminism and standing up for yourself. Lessons in Chemistry is even better if you’ve watched the show Bones! The main character in both has the same personality.

I found myself rooting for her and wanting the very best for her and her family! It’s an inspiring book to read if you are woman! Especially if you feel lost where you are.

Before I Do | 2/5 stars

I think I was missing weddings when I picked this one up! Also, as a wedding photographer, I have always secretly wanted a wedding to stop like the Runaway Bride movie! Before I Do is another book that is a lot like a Lifetime movie! So I knew exactly what was going to happen.

It’s a simple love story that has you feeling for the couple and wanting them to get together sooo badly!

A good book to read in one day or a vacation read you want to not pack for the return trip home!

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing | 4/5 stars

If you are a fan of Friends, this book will have you looking at the show a bit differently! It is also a really hard read if you know someone with substance abuse problems.

This book was sad, mind-opening, and funny! I genuinely believe that if Matthew Perry didn’t have people there for him, no matter what. And him asking for help multiple times. He wouldn’t be here today, and we wouldn’t be able to read his book. His story, his side of that story!

Insomnia | 5/5 stars

I am finding out that I freaking love thriller books! Especially when they are written so well that I don’t figure out the end until almost the end!

The other crazy thing is when I was reading this, I had a hard time sleeping! It made Justin, and I giggle!

Insomnia is a book about life and how things are connected by each and every event in your life. Do you know the movie Butterly Effect? Well, this is a bit like that, but without going back and trying to change things, if you like thrillers, pick this one up today!

The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks | 2/5 stars

I really wanted to like this book, but it couldn’t have been so much better! It is a sweet book about a woman trying to figure out her place in the world. And how books play in our lives and how we look at reading.

A simple love story in the middle and ending with the world a bit better and more beautiful!
