Camping at Nelson Dewey State Park in 90-degree weather!
I planned a few camping trips this year! Making up for going nowhere the past year. I planned for them being all in Wisconsin. As we never know what the world may throw at us. Our first of the year was at Nelson Dewey State Park! Check out the park here!
We planned on hiking the whole park during our two days. But Mother Nature had other plans. She threw us 90-100 degree days! So we decided not to hike but to drive around in our car’s AC to find some ice cream!
Every morning we woke, drank iced Jot Coffee, and I read my book. It was so relaxing! When it got too hot, we traveled to get some ice cream! The drive was worth it!
Every night made dinner, Justin made a fire and we watched the sun go down while drinking a cool drink. Even though it was 90+ degrees, a fire is always a good idea. You just sit farther back!
The first night we watched lightning over Iowa! It was pretty rad as the stars over Wisconsin grew! On our last night, a little raccoon visited our site. I heard something, and we turned our lights on. We saw a curious raccoon trying to sneak on our table and steal our Marshmallows.
I have always wanted to see a raccoon! Or have one as a pet! So we loved this little encounter! We tried to shoo it away, but it just moved slowly, trying to sneak on the table. We quickly picked up our stuff, locked the cooler, and went to bed. Saw a raccoon footprint on the tote in the morning, and it was such a cute thing! Of course, as we are smart campers, the little one didn’t get anything.
