The guide you need to stay fresh smelling while camping or traveling!

How do you keep clean while camping??? Body odor is natural, ya’ll. We all have it, but we all can find ways to stop the funk!

For all of you who have been camping before, or plan on doing it in the future but are unsure how to keep clean while out there – I’m here with a few tips that will help! As someone who spent time roughing it outdoorsy style (even if just for short periods), let me tell ya: being fresh isn’t always easy.

You get dirty quick and sometimes no matter what we do our bodies smell like an ass by day three…but don’t worry because I have some great ideas so start reading right away-

Keep those Pits and Groin Clean

Two things that start to smell first are always the armpits and groin area! Along with being the most unpleasant and embarrassing. There are some super easy ways of keeling those clean!

  • Rubbing Alcohol or Hand Sanitzer with Alcohol in the pits! YES, this totally works! We’ve done this a lot! Especially when we forget our deodarant! Works wonders!
  • Body Wipes! There are a few different options! We Like:
  • If you have natural deodarant! Put it on in the morning and at night! This helps a lot!

Teeth and Breathe

Next to the groin and armpits, your breath can start to smell rancid! Brush your teeth as much as possible! You can get travel toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash for travel ease!

We also always carry gum and mints with us! OH! I also bought a tongue scraper that has helped my breath a lot!

Keep Your Clothing Fresh

I rarely travel without travel-size Fabreeze and dryer sheets. I spray my clothes after a long sweaty day and let them air out! I also line my clothes in my pack or suitcase with dryer sheets! This helps keep my clothing from smelling super funky!

I mainly started doing this because I always worried about being that smelly person in the airport or shuttle. I don’t care if people can see that I have not showered. I don’t want to stink.

Bring Enough Socks & Easy to Wash Shoes

Suppose you are one to wear socks often or in a place you need to wear boots. Bring enough socks with you! That you can wash the funky ones or air them out as much as possible.

When you change your socks, wipe your feet down before putting on fresh ones!

Underwear gets super funky on hot days, especially if you are hiking! Bring ones to dry fast when you wash them! These are my favorite brands! When cleaning, you can use some biodegradable soaps to wash at camp.

Sleeping Bag & Pillow (bedding)

Air it out when you can! Hang it from a tree, Fabreeze it, or add some dryer sheets to it while you’re out! If you are in an Airbnb or Hotel, get the room serviced if it gets funky.

Dry Shampoo

I can’t go any longer than two days without showering, depending on where we are. Dry Shampoo allows me to go an extra day or two without showering and still look fresh! This is by far my favorite!

Dry Shampoo also smells good, so that helps you too from staying funky smelling!
