Why do I love camping so much!?
I have been asked a few times why I love and crave camping. A lot of people don’t understand why people would willingly sleep on the ground in a tent. Or crudely, I have been told why would I live like I was homeless?
Top 7 reasons why I love camping so much:
MIND & BODY REFRESH
My all-time favorite thing about summer can breathe so much fresh air. And it is NOT burning my lungs! While camping, I love to sit and listen to the trees! The leaves blowing in the wind, the rustling is a beautiful sound! Whenever the weather is nice, I will open our windows. No matter how chilly it is! Justin laughs at me sometimes and bundles himself up. But I love it!
Getting away from the city noise and technology calms the mind, body, and soul. It allows me to think clearly! Waking up and drinking fresh coffee listening to nothing but the quiet! The campsites that are away from other humans are the best! We always try to book walk-in sites! As they are more secluded and quiet!
It allows for my mind to open and get inspired! Some of my best marketing and business plans have started in the middle of nowhere!
I mentioned the fresh air above because I feel like I get to clean out my lungs! Replace any polluted city air with fresh, clean air!
Along with the fresh air, my stress level goes way down! Even though there are moments camping that can be stressful, I feel like the weight is lifted! When that tent is raised, the campfire is going, and I have a can of wine in hand! I am in a bit of a piece of heaven!
NEVER MISS A SUNSET OR SUNRISE
Justin is always making sure we know the direction of the sunset, especially if there is an opening at our site. OR if we are close to somewhere, we can see an epic sunset. We watch the sunset while the campfire burns, and we have some cold drinks in hand.
I usually wake up early and LOVE to watch the sunrise! No matter where we are! It’s always a great way to wake up with coffee in hand!
LEARN LIFE SKILLS
While camping you are always trouble shooting! No hiking trip goes 100% as planned.
You’ll learn new food combinations! We had scrambled eggs and taco meat one morning! It was so good!
You’ll learn how to build a fire anywhere! In any kind of fire ring and all kinds of strange wood!
The way you’ll learn how to be OK without technology! Without needing to take a shower, and hot to properly poop in the woods! (this is uber important!)
You’ll also learn skills that will keep you alive!
LEARN TO LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE
You will find a brand new appreciation for the little things! Like, toilet paper, showers, your bed & pillow, your stove and so on! Along with that appreciation, you’ll start to love the little sounds of life too! The cracking of bacon in the morning, the warmth of the fire, hot coffee, your warm clothes. So many things pop out in my mind. I love it all!
The biggest thing I love is walking barefoot and reconnecting with nature!
Living in the city, you start to miss the stars! But, while we were in Hawaii, MILES away from a city, we could see the stars move! Watching the stars change locations and feeling so small! It’s a fantastic thing!
I also like to spot planes vs. satellites too! It’s a weird, fun game we like to play! This usually allows us to see a few falling stars! So beautiful!
No matter who you camp with, you always leave more bonded! No matter if it’s friends, family, or your significant other! Being away from technology and other distractions helps bring up questions and conversations you wouldn’t typically have.
